Düden Falls: a waterfall that flows straight into the sea

Watch Antalya’s Düden Falls plunge from a city park into the Mediterranean, with cliffside views and a quick sorbet stop nearby.

In Antalya, waterfalls aren’t just something you drive out into the forest to find — they’re part of the coastline. Düden Falls (also called Lower Düden Waterfall) is one of the city’s more surprising landmarks: a cascade of fresh water pouring straight off a rocky cliff into the Mediterranean.

The name "Düden" comes from an underground river system that feeds the falls, and these waters originate further inland, from the Taurus Mountains. By the time they reach the coast, they’ve already formed another set of falls (Upper Düden), but it’s here—on the edge of Lara—where they take a dramatic final plunge into the sea.

How to get there

The falls are located in Düden Park, a public green space in Antalya’s eastern suburbs. It’s easily reachable by bus or tram from the city center, and if you’re up for a longer stroll, you can also bike or walk along the coastline. You won’t need more than an hour or two here, but it’s a good midday pause or gentle end-of-day outing.

The park itself is pleasant — shaded benches, some modest cafes, and plenty of flowerbeds in spring and early summer. You’ll see both tourists and locals stopping for photos, having picnics, or just catching the breeze off the water.

Grab a tea — or a mulberry sorbet

Near the viewpoint, there are a few small kiosks selling tea, snacks, and ice cream. If it’s in season, we recommend trying the vegan mulberry sorbet. It’s light, not too sweet, and especially refreshing in the heat. You can sit with your cup in hand and watch the boats circle below the cliffs.

See it from the sea

One of the most popular ways to view Düden Falls is from a boat. Several operators run daily trips along the coastline, many of which pause in front of the falls so you can take them in from the water. On calm days, you’ll spot smaller boats floating right up to the mist.

If you want to see the falls from this angle (along with a stretch of Antalya’s coastline), we recommend this Antalya waterfalls boat trip — it includes lunch, soft drinks, and several scenic stops.
