Bansko is a town where you can easily spend most of your working days at home in your coliving. Spaces like The Avalon (our coliving of choise) are cozy, community-driven, and have everything you need for a productive day without leaving the building.
Still, sometimes it feels good to step outside, meet new people, or shift your environment for a change of pace. That’s where Bansko’s coworking spaces come in. There are three main ones to know about, each with its own personality and strengths.
While we personally only worked from Nestwork, we’ve pulled together a broader overview to give a sense of what each space offers. Full disclosure: what follows combines our firsthand impressions with research and conversations from other nomads who have spent more time in these places.
Nestwork
Nestwork is one of the newest coworking spaces in Bansko and it shows. The building is modern, thoughtfully designed, and surprisingly large by local standards. Inside, you’ll find a mix of open-plan work areas, cozy corners, private rooms, and common spaces that balance productivity with comfort.

Nestwork's varied working spaces
The first thing you notice when you walk in is how sleek and professional it feels. Nestwork is geared towards focus. When we asked someone who had spent time at both Nestwork and Altspace which they preferred, they said they canceled their membership at Altspace and stayed at Nestwork because it was the place where they could get the most done.

Scenes from Nestwork
We worked at Nestwork for half a day and came away impressed. The internet was fast, the atmosphere was calm, and there was plenty of space to spread out. What stood out most were the mountain views. From many of the desks you can look up from your laptop and see the Pirin range framed through large windows, often snowcapped in the winter or glowing at sunset.

Scenes from Nestwork
The views make a difference—they give you a sense of place while still letting you focus. Nestwork may not be the most social space in town, but if what you’re looking for is quiet, professional energy, it’s hard to beat.
Altspace
Altspace is another coworking player in Bansko and it leans in a very different direction. Instead of one large building, Altspace has several smaller locations scattered through town. The spaces themselves are modern, light-filled, and well equipped, but what really defines Altspace is its community. It’s known for being the most social coworking option in Bansko. They host regular events, including the well-known Friday night Altspace drinks that draw in nomads from all over town. Beyond the weekly socials, there are workshops and other community-driven activities. It’s not just about having a desk—it’s about having a network.
If Nestwork is where you go to put your head down and focus, Altspace is where you go if you want to meet people, spark conversations, and weave yourself into the fabric of Bansko’s nomad community.
The feedback we’ve heard is that Altspace feels almost like a small family, with members who are quick to welcome newcomers. The design of the spaces is stylish and comfortable, but it’s the people and the events that make Altspace what it is. If you’re the kind of person who wants coworking to feel like more than just work, Altspace might be your best fit.
Coworking Bansko
Coworking Bansko is the original space that put the town on the map as a nomad destination. It was founded by Matthias, who has since gone on to start his own coliving project in Semkovo, a rural village deeper in the mountains. Under his leadership, Coworking Bansko became the seed of what eventually grew into the wider nomad scene here, drawing in people who wanted to combine affordable mountain living with an international work community.
Since then, the space has changed ownership, and from what we’ve gathered, the character of the community has shifted as well. We didn’t personally meet anyone during our time in Bansko who was currently working at Coworking Bansko, so it’s harder for us to describe the current atmosphere with confidence.
What we can say is that it remains an option, especially for those interested in connecting with the history of Bansko’s nomad experiment. Its legacy is undeniable—it’s where the story of coworking in Bansko began.
A town of many options
Coworking in Bansko is not one-size-fits-all. Each space has its own personality, and the right fit depends on what you’re looking for. If your priority is deep work in a modern, professional environment with inspiring mountain views, Nestwork is an excellent choice. If you want something smaller and more social, where the emphasis is as much on community as it is on productivity, Altspace will likely feel like home. And if you’re curious about the roots of the nomad movement in Bansko, Coworking Bansko still stands as the original, a reminder of how the whole scene started.
In the end, you don’t need to leave your coliving to get work done in Bansko, but stepping out into one of these coworking spaces can offer exactly the kind of shift that keeps work and life balanced. Whether it’s focus, community, or a connection to the town’s history, Bansko has a coworking space to match your mood.
