Cross-pollinate

There are coworking spaces that feel like efficient offices, and then there is Hub Hoi An. Tucked into the quiet edges of town, surrounded in every direction by emerald rice fields, Hub is one of the most beautiful and memorable places we’ve ever worked from. It isn’t just the strong internet or the reliable desks—it’s the experience of looking up from your laptop to see farmers tending rice paddies, of walking out for a break along dirt paths shaded by passionfruit vines, of sipping coffee while hammocks sway gently in the breeze.

What sets Hub Hoi An apart is the way the environment seeps into the day-to-day flow of work. The rice fields aren’t just a backdrop—they shape the pace, encouraging a balance of focus and rest that feels rare in coworking culture. Hub Hoi An is more than a workspace: it’s a community woven into its environment, peaceful yet alive, rooted in the rhythms of both nature and remote work.

Facilities and workspaces

Hub Hoi An offers a range of work areas to fit different moods and needs. There’s a dedicated quiet room for deep focus, where everyone slips into a hushed rhythm and the atmosphere is more library than café. For collaboration, meeting rooms provide space for calls or group work without disturbing others. The main open area is bright, airy, and designed for flexibility—tables and chairs can be rearranged depending on whether you’re working solo or alongside friends.

The internet is robust, which was one of our biggest questions before arriving. We never had an issue with speed or stability, even during video calls or file uploads. Power outlets are plentiful, and the furniture strikes a balance between comfortable and practical, making it easy to settle in for long hours. But the real draw is the view: every desk seems angled toward the rice fields. The workspace opens outwards, with massive windows and covered terraces that erase the boundary between indoors and outdoors.

It feels almost like working in a green amphitheater of nature. Even when you’re inside, the light shifts throughout the day, mirroring the sun across the fields. Morning light is crisp and energizing, while late afternoon casts the paddies in golden tones, an atmosphere that makes even the most routine tasks feel more grounded.

The outdoor setting

Unlike many coworking spaces that tuck you into enclosed rooms, Hub Hoi An embraces the outdoors. Large shaded areas with sturdy tables let you work in the open air, surrounded by panoramic views of rice paddies. The soundscape is a blend of soft typing and rustling leaves, sometimes punctuated by a distant motorbike or the rhythmic splash of farmers watering their crops.

There are hammock swings scattered about, perfect for reading or taking a break when the afternoon sun grows warm. If you need to stretch your legs, small paths wind through the rice fields directly from Hub Hoi An’s entrance. We often took short walks during the day, watching egrets swoop across the fields or chatting with locals bent over the crops.

The outdoor spaces also offer an unusual sense of flexibility. You can choose to work with your laptop under a shaded canopy, switch to a hammock with a notebook, or sit along the edge of the terrace with your feet dangling toward the grass.

Being so immersed in the landscape brings a kind of grounded energy to work—calm, steady, and surprisingly productive.

The onsite café

While Hub Hoi An isn’t a café or restaurant open to the public, members with coworking passes can order food and drinks onsite. This makes it easy to stay fueled without breaking your workflow. The café offerings are simple but thoughtful, with several vegan-friendly choices.

Breakfast often meant a smoothie bowl topped with dragonfruit, banana, granola, and nuts, or a Buddha bowl layered with quinoa and roasted vegetables. Herbal teas, fresh juices, and coffee with plant-based milks kept us refreshed throughout the day. On cooler mornings, a warm cup of ginger tea felt restorative; on hotter afternoons, a chilled juice was perfect for a reset. Everything felt fresh, light, and aligned with the health-conscious vibe of the space.

Ordering lunch was seamless. You place your order via WhatsApp, and when the meals arrive, the team lays them out on a communal table, each dish marked with its owner’s name. It may sound like a small detail, but it transformed meals into shared moments: people stepping away from their laptops, gathering at the table, and striking up conversations while picking up their plates.

That ritual of eating together created a rhythm that mirrored the coworking ethos—independent yet communal. Some days the table would be quiet, others buzzing with conversation, but it always offered an anchor point to pause, connect, and return to work renewed.

Community and events

Hub Hoi An is not just desks and wifi; it’s a community. What struck us most was how non-hierarchical it feels. Anyone can propose an idea for an event, and the community manager helps facilitate by sharing it with the group and encouraging participation. The person who puts forward the idea naturally becomes the organizer, which keeps things flexible and democratic.

During our time, we joined ice bath sessions set up in tubs overlooking the rice fields. Others organized dinners in town, film nights, or weekend excursions, such as a trip to My Son Sanctuary. The rhythm of community events gave Hub Hoi An a balance of work and play. Some weeks were busier with activities; others were quieter, but there was always a sense that you could step into connection if you wanted to.

That freedom made the community feel natural rather than forced. It wasn’t about structured networking sessions or contrived team-building—it was about people sharing what they loved and inviting others along. For digital nomads who often move between cities, that sense of community is invaluable. It provides not just company, but continuity.

The vibe and energy

What makes Hub Hoi An unforgettable is its vibe. There’s a gentleness to working in the middle of rice fields that you won’t find elsewhere. You’re close enough to town to bike in for dinner, yet far enough away that the soundtrack of your day is frogs, crickets, and the soft swish of wind in the paddies. The space itself is dotted with small details that add warmth: flowers freshly cut and arranged on tables, climbing passionfruit vines along the path to the entrance, colorful community boards pinned with upcoming events and local tips.

This isn’t the sterile coworking you find in big cities. It’s slower, softer, but paradoxically more productive because it invites you to settle in. People seemed to work with more focus here, perhaps because the environment itself encourages balance. When your break is a walk among the fields or a chat in a hammock, it’s easier to return to your desk refreshed and ready.

Why we love Hub Hoi An

Of all the coworking spaces we’ve visited, Hub Hoi An is among our favorites in the world. It combines everything we value: reliable facilities, nourishing food, a vibrant but low-pressure community, and above all, an extraordinary setting. There’s something almost meditative about working while farmers plant rice just a few meters away, or watching the sun sink into the paddies as the day winds down.

Hub Hoi An isn’t just a place to work—it’s a reminder of why remote work can be so enriching. It lets you connect not only with other digital nomads but also with the land and rhythms of the place you’re in. Peaceful, beautiful, and welcoming, it’s the kind of coworking space we’d return to again and again.

More than that, it’s a vision of how coworking can be when it’s built in harmony with its surroundings. Hub Hoi An doesn’t impose on the rice fields—it flows with them, creating a workspace that feels both rooted and alive. For us, it remains one of the loveliest coworking experiences we’ve had anywhere in the world.
