We don’t want to know your shopping habits. We don’t care how long you scrolled. We don’t need to optimize your “conversion.” Because we are not here to manipulate your attention. We are here to be in right relationship with it.
None of the bad stuff
We don't use Google Analytics. Or Facebook Pixel. Or any of their surveillance-minded cousins: TikTok Pixel, LinkedIn Insight Tag, Twitter Pixel, Hotjar, FullStory, HubSpot, or any other adtech script that records, profiles, or follows you.
We’re not interested in creating a “personalized experience.” We’re interested in creating a trustworthy one.
Built on Ghost
This site is powered by Ghost: a fast, minimalist, open-source publishing platform designed for creators, not advertisers. We chose Ghost because it respects privacy by default:
- It doesn’t inject third-party trackers.
- It doesn’t auto-install cookies.
- It doesn’t feed your browsing behavior to data brokers.
We use Ghost’s in-built analytics, which are privacy-preserving and GDPR-compliant. That means we can see broad patterns (things like which posts are being read most, or how many visitors arrive in a given week), but we never collect personally identifiable information.
We host the site through Spaceship, a lightweight, developer-friendly provider that doesn’t inject trackers, scripts, or surveillance infrastructure.
Together, this setup means your visit here isn’t routed through corporate tracking clouds or optimized for marketing metrics. Instead, it’s held lightly, with respect for your attention and your autonomy.
When you do share info (very rarely)
While most of your time here leaves no trace, there are a few moments (like subscribing to our emails or purchasing our products) when you might choose to share a little information with us. When that happens, here’s exactly what we collect (and what we don’t).
Subscribing to our emails
If you subscribe to our emails, Slow Signals, we collect only the email address you provide. That’s it.
Our emails are sent through MailerLite, a platform we chose for its clean interface, strong privacy posture, and GDPR compliance. While MailerLite does track basic email metrics, like open rates, we use this data only to understand what’s resonating, so we can write better, more meaningful content for the people who are truly in orbit.
We do not segment, profile, or track clicks across emails. We don’t feed your data into advertising systems or use it to push you toward anything.
Our interest is not in targeting; it’s in tending.
You can unsubscribe anytime, and when you do, your email address is deleted from our list. We also periodically remove inactive addresses to keep our ecosystem light and intentional.
We’ll never email you without consent. We believe that quiet respect is more powerful than loud marketing.
Purchasing our products
We use Payhip to power our store, and we embed their purchase buttons directly on the NEC site. That means when you click "Buy now," you're interacting with a secure Payhip checkout, without ever leaving our pages.
Because these elements are embedded, Payhip may collect some basic technical data, like:
- Your IP address (for tax compliance)
- Purchase metadata (for receipts and delivery)
We do not use this information to market to you, target you, or analyze your behavior.
We don’t see your payment info. It's securely handled by Stripe or PayPal through Payhip’s checkout flow.
Why it matters
We live in a world where surveillance has become the norm and where even small sites funnel your data to shadowy networks of advertisers and data brokers.
NEC refuses that logic. We believe that what you read, browse, or linger on should be yours alone, not mined for insight or monetized behind your back.
