The Light Phone III is a simple phone with a camera and some optional tools available. Currently the available tools include an alarm, a timer, a calculator, a calendar, a directory, directions, notes/voice memo, and a simple music or podcast player. The phone itself has gps, bluetooth, finger print ID, a noise cancellation mic, camera, flashlight, supports voice-to-text, and can be used as a personal hotspot.
The Light Phone III will never have social media, internet browsing, email, news, or ads. There are simply no infinite feeds. The interests and nature of these ad-driven platforms will never align with our actual quality of life.
NEC's view
We acknowledge that having only the Light Phone III as your sole phone is unpractical as a traveler or nomad, but we wanted to include it as a tool we recommend nonetheless, as we respect what it stands for: a reset in a world of infinite scroll.
For those trying to reclaim their attention and reframe their relationship with tech, it’s one of the few commercially available phones that suits that purpose.
