The Academy of Visionary Art is situated within the Italian ecovillage of Torre Superiore, a labyrinthine site of spiraling stairs and narrow passages, built from the local limestone in 1300. It is dedicated to teaching traditional painting techniques while fostering individual creativity and the pursuit of visionary art—art that transcends the physical world and portrays a wider vision of awareness, often incorporating spiritual and symbolic elements.
Seminars typically last 3 weeks and include shared communal meals prepared by the local chef from fresh and mostly organic ingredients grown in the surrounding fields.
NEC's view
We heard about the Academy of Visionary Art through a friend. We have not attended any of their seminars ourselves, but from what we can see, they look like a great learning experience.
The seminars seem valuable whether or not you identify as an artist. They offer a chance to step outside of routine, spend concentrated time on creative exploration, and think differently about the world around you.
