Mérida - Food

JAJAJANA

Our favorite fully vegan spot in Mérida, JAJAJANA does an amazing vegan grilled cheese and great vegan waffles. We also recommend their blue dragon smoothie and their chilaquiles.

Muchas Vidas

If you're looking for more unhealthy vegan food, Muchas Vidas has some excellent options. Our favorite is their pancakes with vegan bacon.

El Apapacho

In addition to being an amazing restaurant, El Apapacho is also a feminist bookstore. With many vegan options, their focus is on slow and sustainable food.

Taquería De La Unión

With several different clearly labelled vegan options, Taquería De La Unión is a great spot to grab a quick bite to eat. Their silik pak, a traditional Yucatecan dip made toasted pumpkin seeds, charred tomatoes, habanero peppers, and sour orange juice, is also delicious.

Orgánico

A peaceful spot with a gorgeous outdoor garden, Orgánico is fully vegetarian and has a number of options that can be made vegan. Our favorite dish of theirs is the quesadillas.

Crush

For vegan tacos or pozole, Crush is a great spot.

La Kombuchería

With a number of vegan options, La Kombuchería is another favorite of ours. We recommend their coconut ceviche.

Museum of Yucateca Gastronomy (MUGY)

Known to be the best restaurant in Mérida for traditional Yucatecan cuisine, MUGY doesn't have many vegan options, but we did enjoy their stuffed squash.

Explore

La Chaya Maya

If you are looking to try Yucatecan cuisine, La Chaya Maya is a great option. We enjoyed their fried plantains and vegan papadzules, an ancestral version of enchiladas with a creamy pumpkin seed sauce.

Explore

Meriland

With a separate vegan menu, Meriland has some great options including a burrito, an acai bowl, and waffles.

Explore

Cucu Bistro

While Cucu doesn't have any advertised vegan options, they were able to make us a vegan shakshouka with hummus instead of egg.

Restaurante Cenotes Hacienda Mucuyché

Not in centro, but the restaurant at Cenotes Hacienda Mucuyché does have vegan plate.
